Sankt Johann Alpendorf is located directly on the Tauern Cycle Path and the Alpe-Adria Cycle Path, two of the most beautiful cycle routes in Austria. There are also 26 signposted cycle tours in the immediate vicinity of the Oberforsthof and a further 236 MTB tours in the catchment area. The infrastructure is not only ideal for mountain bikers. Road cyclists can also enjoy the picturesque and low-traffic mountain roads in the valley. Freeriders will appreciate the numerous bike parks and trails in the area. Pongau is a declared vacation destination for families. It goes without saying that there are also many cycling adventures especially for families here. And it doesn’t matter whether you are interested in e-biking, cycle touring, MTB or fun biking. You can easily hire the equipment on site and we’ll help you plan everything from A to Z. So get on the saddle and get pedaling – Pongau is calling!
The Tauern Cycle Path is better than any adventure park, because it offers far more than just sporting kicks and nature experiences. This is particularly true of the fourth stage, which leads from St. Johann via Bischofshofen, Pfarrwerfen, Werfen and the gentle Lueg Pass to Golling. Highlights along the way include the Liechtenstein Gorge, the Pongau Cathedral, the Bischofshofen ski jump, Hohenwerfen Castle and the Ice Giant World. The “legendary” 25 km route from St. Johann to Werfen is ideal for families, as it runs comfortably along the Salzach and provides you with many exciting legends along the way. Just look out for the signs along the route!
There is a fantastic bike park for little bike freaks at the middle station of the Flying Mozart in Wagrain. It doesn’t matter whether your kids are still on their balance bikes or are already downhill kings: Everyone will be happy here. Woom rental bikes are already included in the ticket price. And the rest of the family can watch all the masterpieces up close from the chill area.
As you know, the Oberforsthof motto is “inspiration instead of animation”. That’s why we have the most beautiful GPS-supported bike tours in our region for all kinds of disciplines ready to go. Rental bikes are also available on site. So you don’t have to stress about planning and can enjoy your cycling adventures from A to Z in the way that suits you. But: We don’t want to do without each other completely, which is why there is a free guided group bike tour on top every week.
